To trace their IP address origination:
AnonymousMan says that in Eudora there is a button or tab that allows you to click it and voila all the info is there. The button is called BLAH BLAH.

In Outlook, open the message, select from the menu VIEW | OPTIONS and a popup will show the Internet Headers.

In the message header it will say "received from":

Received: from mx1.mail.ru (mx1.mail.ru [194.67.23.121])
Received: from [82.211.136.12] (port=1602 helo=3RD)

The second IP, 82.211.136.12 is the IP you want.

Go to http://www.ripe.net/whois and search for the IP. Input the IP in the box on that page:

http://www.ripe.net/whois

http://www.ripe.net/perl/whois?form_type=simple&full_query_string=&searchtext=82.211.136.12&do_search=Search

It may or may not be of assistance to you, as some IP addresses are world-wide, which I think means that the owner hasn't designated where the country of origination is used.

God bless,
Nannette

  Hi Nannette,
Thanks for this valuable bit of information and guidelines. I am not sure but I believe that I have run into a couple of scammers. Once they asked for money to be transfered, or send to them, I become aware. It is had to avoid there mail and at times they call you by different names. Anyway, I would like to know for sure how to affirm that the person is a scammer, by tracing where they are really from. Please explain to me the steps that I can take. Again, may God keep and bless you always and keep up the good work.

For those reading this forum backwards.... Natulya was a scammer removed from our site. She committed credit card fraud and fit the profile of a scammer. Model photo, etc. She wrote to AnonymousMan offline and he agreed to follow-up for this report on the Anatomy of a Scammer.

If this is the first report you are reading, you are reading it backwards. Start from the earliest date and read through.

Some important things revealed in this study...

1) She never uses his name in her mails to him until she is being forced to send more than a custom mail by his asking repeatedly "Why don't you answer my questions?"

2) She never answers his questions until he becomes insistent. She only sends canned responses that could be sent to anyone. And they are so very boring.

3) She uses TheBat, a mass mailing program designed for legitimate purposes, but used by scammers. She uses the educational version as well, meaning that they are even scamming the company that puts out the mailer. Internet Cafes do not use a mass mailing program. Scammers do in order to send out hundreds and thousands of canned responses a day.

4) Exact phrasing found in her mails is also reported in other scammer mails throughout the internet.

5) If you suspect you might be writing a scammer, check the host header and see if the mail was sent using TheBat....

X-Mailer: The Bat! (v2.12.00) Educational

6) If you suspect you might be writing a scammer, do a search on google for their name, key phrases from their mails, etc. to see if you can find the same mail being reported on other scam reporting websites.

Be prayerful and careful!

Do not continue a relationship with someone who asks for money or who wants to send you money orders to cash! Or who wants to give you money for free! Free money ain't free! There's always legal fees that end up costing you!

God bless,
Nannette

Hi Nannette & Family,
I was going through my junk box in Eudora and I noticed an email
from Natalya. It only took 21 days for her to reply to the last
reply, where we confronted her about fraud. I know from previous
experience that they simply overlooked or are confused about who they
are e-mailing. Maybe it is an attempt to make it seem like she never
received my email and is totally innocent about what is going
on. Anyhow the information is below see what you can make of it and
let me know if there is anything you want me to do or how you would
like me to proceed.

God be with you,
AnonymousMan

Natalya (questions for you)

Dear, you to not cease to write to me, why?
It that that is connected with your work or health, I very much to worry
for it, write to me that that, I shall be very glad, I shall wait for
your letter!!!!!

---

Don't worry about proceeding. I think we know enough about her. I'm sorry she has found out your email address though and you'll probably get spam from these people. Once I wrote back a scammer, I started getting scammer spam from all kinds of places to that email address.

God bless,
Nannette
