What is a Psalm:
I believe the following is what The Holy Spirit gave me in prayer.Study for yourself as no one person is final authority,only God and His Word.
The Elements of a Psalm:
1.they will contain an element of poetry whether or not they rhyme. Read
through the Book of Psalms to document this.
2.A Psalm is a Spiritual Poem,tho' not all poems are Psalm. See documentation above.
3.They will usually come on the spur of the moment. If interrupted and it if
it is from The Holy Spirit it will return. Jn.10:14,v.27;Heb.1:1,3:7,4:7.
all of chapter 11,12:2 and Jms.1:17
4.They will contain (1) or more of the following elements.a.edification b.exhotation c.comfort d.teaching/in-
-structional e.revelation knowledge of The Word of God f.word of wisdom(facts
of the future events,unknown to the speaker g.word of knowledge,past or present events,unknown to the speaker h.whether spoken or written they will come either by revelation,or tongues
interpretation.or the simple gift of prophesy. see 1.Cor.12:8-111;chapter 14:2-4,v.13-15,v.26.
